Topsoil from St. Louis Composting is a screened and processed mineral soil. Topsoil is the uppermost layer in a soil profile and typically has high organic levels and dark color. It is best used as a material for general landscaping preparation.
Topsoil is classified as a silty loam soil. Silty loams are generally defined as having a silt content above 50% and a clay content between 5% and 20%. Silty loams have some organic matter content and possess good moisture-holding capacity.
